Chris just needed his food stamps.
The line snaked around two rows of turnstiles and there were looks of despair, anguish and embarrassment etched onto all the adults' faces.
"I'm not sure how I'm going to make it this week," said a woman in back of him. She was young, petite and held a baby on one hip while her toddler played on the floor next to her. She was speaking to another woman in line. "Even with food stamps, I'm not going to have enough to feed my family this week." She sighed heavily, smiled and kissed her baby's cheek.
